Course Overview
Acute confusion, often known as encephalopathy, can have a host of causes, some of which are reversible by EMS providers. A patient who suddenly becomes delirious, or confused, should be treated as a medical emergency. The key responsibilities of the EMS providers in these cases are to ensure crew and patient safety, determining the cause of the confusion, and treating the cause if possible.
