Cardiac care in the streets focuses on congestive heart failure (CHF) and acute myocardial infarction (AMI), two common cardiac conditions in the United States. As the role of paramedics grows, with community-based paramedicine so does the need for advanced education. The care of cardiac patients has advanced significantly in the past 10 years, along with pre-hospital treatment. Early and aggressive treatment by EMS provides improved outcomes for patients. This course reviews common cardiac complaints and the latest science surrounding the care of cardiac patients in the field.
